Featuring Tag Inn Denim, Mathapuna Interiors, and Sipho Tshabalala, this initiative supports small business growth and community impact.

23 July 2025 – For many small businesses and creatives, breaking into formal retail is difficult—costs like rent, shop fitting, staffing, and day-to-day operations often create barriers that are hard to overcome. In response, Attacq has used SOOK Mall of Africa to support local entrepreneurs by providing resources and exposure to local entrepreneurs and artists.

At Mall of Africa, we’re proud to serve as a launchpad for emerging entrepreneurs and creatives,” says Yasmeen Lorgat, General Manager of Mall of Africa. “SOOK reflects our commitment to reimagining retail spaces as platforms for empowerment, innovation, and community connection. It’s not just about shopping—it’s about showcasing talent, telling stories, and building futures.”

This commitment has recently come to life through the presence of two Mpumalanga-based brands: Tag Inn Denim and Mathapuna Interiors. Tag Inn Denim started as a small clothing alteration business and has grown into a fashion brand rooted in quality and self-expression. Mathapuna Interiors brings a refined design approach to functional living spaces. Together, the brands transformed the  space into a unique blend of fashion and interiors—giving customers a full sensory experience and the chance to engage with authentic, proudly South African products.

Currently on display is a new activation by artist Sipho Tshabalala. Born in Mahikeng, Tshabalala’s work explores identity, memory, and resilience through mediums like charcoal, graphite, and salt-based paint. His exhibition, running from 17 to 24 July, forms part of Mall of Africa’s Mandela Day commemorations. The space allows him to bring his work to life in interactive ways and reach new audiences beyond the traditional gallery environment.

“We’re dedicated to ensuring that local talent not only gains access but also thrives—building sustainable businesses that can truly make a difference,” Lorgat added.
