Waterfall City expands its business events offering with R750 million Conference Centre and Hotel development

Johannesburg, 16 March 2026 – Waterfall City continues to strengthen its position as one of South Africa’s most connected mixed-use destinations with the announcement of a R750 million Waterfall City Conference Centre and Hotel development, a strategic collaboration between Attacq Limited and Rabie Property Group.

The project forms part of Attacq’s long-term strategy to enhance the precinct’s hospitality and business infrastructure while supporting the continued growth of Waterfall City as a destination for commerce, collaboration and global connectivity.

“This development reflects our continued commitment to unlocking long-term value within the Waterfall City precinct through thoughtful planning, disciplined capital allocation and strong partnerships,” says Jackie van Niekerk, CEO of Attacq.

“Waterfall City has evolved into a fully integrated ecosystem where business, retail, healthcare, residential and lifestyle experiences coexist. The addition of a purpose-built conference centre and hotel strengthens the precinct’s ability to host major business events while further enhancing its appeal as a destination for both local and international visitors.”

Over the past decade, Waterfall City has grown into one of Gauteng’s most dynamic business nodes, attracting leading corporates, global brands and a thriving residential community. The new development will further enhance this ecosystem by providing world-class conferencing and hospitality infrastructure at the heart of the precinct.

Leon Cohen, Group Chairman of Rabie Property Group, says the partnership builds on a proven mixed-use development model.

“Century City has demonstrated what is possible when conferencing and hospitality are integrated into a carefully planned precinct. It becomes an economic catalyst that strengthens the broader node. Waterfall City already has the scale, infrastructure and connectivity required to support this next phase of growth.”

The Waterfall City Conference Centre and Hotel will be operated by the experienced team behind the Century City Conference Centre and Hotels, bringing more than a decade of operational expertise in business events and hospitality.

The development will also mark the launch of African Rain Collection, a hospitality portfolio created to oversee the group’s conference and hotel assets across Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The conference centre will accommodate up to 1,350 delegates in a single venue and 2,000 guests across 16 flexible event spaces, complemented by outdoor venues designed for open-air events.

The adjoining hotel will feature 180 rooms and apartments, an all-day dining restaurant, private dining facilities, wellness amenities including a gym and spa, and a swimming pool.

Designed as part of the broader Waterfall City masterplan, the development aligns with Attacq’s integrated approach to sustainability and long-term precinct development.

The Waterfall City Conference Centre and Hotel is expected to be fully operational by January 2028, with bookings already open for conferences and events from that date.
